Tower

Tower

Nörvenich Tower is responsible for all movements on the Airport, inside the CTR and also for giving Startup and Enroute clearences.

General

Direction of Operation

The operating direction should generally decided by weather conditions. However. depending on the traffic situation in EDDK (Köln) and the active Runway there, it may be beneficial to use runway 24 for departures and 06 for arrivals. If the weather permits.

Enroute clearences

All enroute clearances must be coordinated with Nörvenich Radar. The actual clearance is issued by Nörvenich Radar and then relayed to the pilot by Nörvenich Tower. Pilots typically receive startup and taxi clearances while Tower coordinates with Radar for the enroute clearance, the clearence will then be issued shortly before takeoff at the holding point. If Nörvenich Radar is unavailable, the enroute clearance must be coordinated with the responsible civilian Sector.

IFR Traffic

All IFR Traffic shall use the hard surface runway, while the grass runway is reserved for Helicopter traffic.

Departures

A departure release for all IFR Traffic shall be obtained from ETNN_APP
Departures shall be handed off as soon as possible to Nörvenich Radar. Or if ETNN_APP agrees to the according EDGG Sector.

Arrivals

For IFR Arrivals on an PAR (Precision Approach Radar) Approach a landing clearence shall be relayed from Nörvenich Tower to Nörvenich Radar.

In case of an missed approach, Nörvenich Radar and the closest civilian Sector shall be informed immediantly.

VFR Traffic

Grass lanes

The grass lanes may be used in parallel to the hard surface runway. They are generally only used for VFR Helicopter traffic (Or gliders on the weekend).

Noise abatement
